Steven is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor as well as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He is licensed in both North and South Carolina.  He received his Bachelor's degree from Cedarville University, Cedarville, OH, and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, TX., in 2010.  His experience includes individual and family therapy in a residential facility for teenage boys, providing general therapy in an agency setting, and private practice working with adolescents, men, and women.  Steven works with adolescents (age 12 and above) and adults. He specializes in many different life challenges including:

  • Spiritual concerns

Steven believes that building a partnership and trust with his clients is important.  He believes in utilizing compassion, experience, and straightforwardness, working in collaboration with your willingness and motivation to change in a dynamic combination.  Establishing goals that are clear and important to you is prioritized.  Steven utilizes multiple research-based approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention, Structural Family Systems, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), which is a form of trauma counseling.  He enjoys integrating theology and spirituality into his counseling as desired by clients and their preferences.  He also provides clinical supervision for associate-level counselors. 

Outside of the office Steven enjoys building Lego with his boys, photography, cooking, a good dad joke, and projects around the house.
