Professional Background
Hannah is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) with a passion for helping children, teens, young adults, and families feel supported, understood, and empowered. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of South Carolina and a Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development from Winthrop University’s CACREP-accredited program.
Hannah’s clinical background includes providing trauma-informed counseling in both community mental health and private practice settings. She also has experience working with children and adolescents impacted by foster care and the juvenile justice system, which has shaped her understanding of how relationships, family systems, life experiences, and environments can influence emotional and behavioral well-being.
Clients & Treatment Methods
Hannah works with children beginning at age 3, teens, young adults, and caregivers. She especially enjoys helping children and teens who may be experiencing anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, behavioral concerns, life transitions, or challenges expressing what they are feeling.
Her approach to counseling is warm, collaborative, and individualized to each client. She primarily works from a person-centered and person-in-environment perspective, meaning she believes that clients are best understood not only by what they are experiencing internally, but also within the context of their relationships, families, developmental experiences, and environments.
Because children often communicate and process experiences differently than adults, Hannah incorporates developmentally appropriate approaches such as non-directive play therapy and sandtray therapy to give children a safe space to express themselves in ways that feel natural to them. She also utilizes Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), which helps caregivers strengthen their connection with their child while learning skills to better understand and respond to their child’s emotional and behavioral needs.
Depending on each client’s age, needs, and treatment goals, Hannah may also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialetical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed strategies, psychoeducation, emotional regulation and coping skills, and parent coaching. Above all, she strives to create a therapeutic space where clients and caregivers feel heard, accepted, and supported as you work together toward meaningful and lasting growth.
Personal Interests
Outside of the counseling room, Hannah enjoys finding ways to stay active, creative, and connected to the things that bring her joy.
In her free time, she loves going to concerts, teaching workout classes at the YMCA, and getting lost in a good book.
